Safaris

We organise safaris for many of our guests who would like to take advantage of being so close to some wonderful wildlife areas. Typically, guests follow their trekking trip with a visit to a National Reserve or Conservancy, and we can recommend some really lovely lodges and camps.

We usually suggest the Samburu National Reserve which happens to be one of the most spectacular in Kenya with its extraordinary scenery and wildlife. There are huge numbers of elephants, and the research centre of Save the Elephants is based here. The Samburu is known for its own special ‘Five’: the Grevy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe, the Beisa oryx, the Somali ostrich and the gerenuk which is the most entrancing antelope with a giraffe-like neck. There are also big cats!

The other option in northern Kenya is Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Here you may be lucky enough to see the iconic ‘Big Five’ as there are rhino here including the last two northern white rhinos on the planet!

We can also arrange trips to the Masai Mara, and we recommend the adjoining conservancies to the main Reserve as they are more exclusive and less touristy.
